Admittedly, I never considered a thing like that since my own contract with a spirit provides fresh food, but- you're right for both ideas, honestly. A wall especially could be good- I remember we used to have barricades at the tail of things, and they at least bought some time before that final night... I can look into both, save you a bit if you want your own home or somethin'.
As for the waters... the barrier was erected around the town, and the bitch can and has plucked the lot a' you from your beds in the middle of the night for its games before. The shores are still part of its territory, so it wouldn't really deter it as much as we'd like.
