It is difficult. The fog is controlled by the Creature, that stupid childish thing, but it was originally created to keep the bad things out. The Creature corrupted it, but the magic holding it all together still seems to have a will. It's some sort of back-and-forth. ...I'm not really sure why.

It's why I couldn't get out by myself. One entity wants me out, one entity wants me in, and the Creature's will is stronger than you might think it is. That, and my system was messed up from being in there so long. You might be able to try, though.
